To celebrate International Women’s Day, the IEEE-WIE VSIT Student Branch organized STREE 2026 – Women Leading the Future of Science, a two-day event dedicated to recognizing the achievements of women in STEM and inspiring students through knowledge sharing and interactive engagement.
The event brought together accomplished professionals and enthusiastic students to celebrate women’s contributions to science, technology, and innovation. Through a combination of an insightful panel discussion and an interactive quiz competition, participants gained valuable perspectives on careers, leadership, and the importance of gender diversity in technology.
The first day of STREE 2026 featured an inspiring panel discussion with distinguished women professionals and researchers who shared their journeys, challenges, and accomplishments in their respective fields.
Students gained valuable insights into career development, research opportunities, and the evolving role of women in technology and innovation.
Ms. Susmita Desai
An Electronics Engineer with 15+ years of experience in the IT industry, specializing in Telecom Project Management and Data Science solutions. She has previously worked at Tech Mahindra, managing telecom projects for British Telecom.
Dr. Prajakta Dandekar Jain
A distinguished academic and researcher with 18+ years of experience in pharmaceutical biotechnology and bioprocess technology. She is an Assistant Professor at ICT Mumbai, known for her research in nanofibers, tissue engineering, and 3D bioprinting technologies.
The second day of the event featured an engaging technical quiz competition, encouraging students to test their knowledge in science, technology, and innovation.
Participants competed enthusiastically in multiple rounds designed to challenge their technical awareness, analytical thinking, and teamwork.
STREE 2026 successfully celebrated International Women’s Day by creating a platform that highlighted the achievements of women in science and technology while inspiring students to pursue meaningful careers in STEM.
The two-day event combined knowledge sharing, mentorship, and interactive learning, leaving participants motivated and empowered.
